Coach Doyinsola
Founder, wealthtiv
Doyinsola Toye (ACA, ACCA, CISA) started investing in 2018 with ₦20,000 in an ARM Investment Manager money market fund. She was a young professional with a salary, looking for somewhere to put her money. Every month, something went in, small amounts at first, then bigger ones. At some point she set up a direct debit just to stop herself saying "oh, I forgot this month." The portfolio grew slowly. Then it stopped feeling slow.
Then she lost over ₦7 million. She pulled money out of her fund to diversify into two new investments, and both went wrong at once. For a moment, she questioned everything she thought she knew.
She didn't stop. The month after, she invested again, in something different. Not because it didn't hurt, but because she understood that losing money isn't the same as having a bad strategy. The goal hadn't changed, she just got more disciplined. She stopped chasing returns she couldn't explain, and learned that the investments promising the most are usually protecting you the least.
Today, her portfolio spans money market funds, equity funds, Nigerian stocks, dollar assets like US stocks and ETFs, and real estate — built on a salary, over time, with strategy.
That's one of the lessons she teaches now: most people aren't losing money because they don't earn enough. They're losing because they're chasing returns instead of building a strategy.
She has taught over 1200+ students through her classes, courses, cohorts, three published books and a community of 130,000+ across Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube. She still manages her own money the same way she always has: slowly, deliberately, and only with strategies she understands.
